PF claim rejected: date of birth mismatch: step-by-step
Rule source: EPFO Circular No. WSU/2024/1/SOP_JD/2009 dated 16 January 2025 & SOP Circular No. WSU/2022/1/SOP_Joint_Declaration/31037. Checked on 11 October 2026.
Why Date of Birth Mismatch Rejects Claims
EPFO requires your Date of Birth in UAN to match Aadhaar for UIDAI authentication. If there is a mismatch, online claim forms will not allow submission or will be rejected by the system.

Under EPFO Circular No. WSU/2024/1/SOP_JD/2009 dated 16 January 2025:
- Difference of 3 years or less: Can be updated online under Manage > Modify Basic Details by entering Aadhaar number and OTP. No supporting document upload is required for Aadhaar-validated UANs.
- Difference of more than 3 years: Requires uploading a supporting document (Birth Certificate, Passport, Marksheet, or School Leaving Certificate) along with a Joint Declaration (Annexure-I).
